Low-tox living made easy

Low-tox living

Let’s face it, the stress and pressure we put on ourselves to live a clean, healthy lifestyle is probably worse for us than some of those toxic products hidden in our homes. So, step one, give yourself some grace, and, step two, focus on doing the best you can with what you have and be proud of your progress! Whether you're just dipping your toes into this whole “clean living” thing or you’re on a roll with it, we’ve compiled a list of some low-effort and affordable tips, tricks, and products to keep the momentum going (at your own pace, of course!).

Fresh air

Outdoors

First, foremost, and FREE — get outside. Breathing in fresh air is essential for your physical and mental health. And while you’re at it, get some unfiltered sunshine on your face and dirt on your toes (if there’s no snow on the ground 🥶). Your circadian rhythm and hormones will thank you.

Personal care products

This category can get expensive and discouraging fast, so we’re keeping it simple and reminding you to take it one product at a time! Here are some of our favorite low-tox swaps:

Clean indoor air

While we love our air purifiers, they’re a major investment and were on our wishlist for a loooong time before we committed. An easier, more affordable place to start is to focus on airflow by opening windows when you can (even if it’s just a tiny crack!), wet dusting, and controlling the moisture levels with these nifty, inexpensive contraptions, which are great for cabinets, closets, or wherever moisture gets trapped.

Whole foods

Whole foods

If you’re anything like us, you’re being targeted with the latest and greatest packaged healthy snack foods on Instagram. While they might be clean options, those packaged goods add up reallll fast. Keep it simple, local, and healthy with whole foods — meats, veggies, fruits, whole grains, and dairy. You’ll be shocked by all of the packaged food dupes you can make with a few basic ingredients!

Cleaning products

This is a big one for us. If we’re taking the time and effort to clean, we’re not about to pollute our air and disrupt our hormones at the same time. Luckily, you can achieve low-tox status pretty easily when it comes to this category. Trusty vinegar is a great all-purpose cleaner that can be used just about anywhere. Here are some other products we turn to:

Food storage

When you can, slowly start swapping your plastic food storage solutions to support your hormone health. Here are some of our favorite options:

Linens

When you think about it, we spend a solid portion of our lives in bed, which makes our bedding choices pretty important. Here are some of our favorite bedding and towel picks:

We hope this information brings you some ease and comfort in your low-tox journey!
